Fall prevention and stability training

Next Phase Balance™ is a clinically designed stability and fall-prevention program at Rehab Associates in Newark-Heath—designed to help active adults maintain confidence, coordination, and independence. Developed by Rehab Associates' physical therapists, it strengthens stabilizing muscles, improves balance, and reduces fall risk—so you can keep enjoying the activities you love.

What to Expect

Your Balance Assessment

We conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your balance systems and fall risk:

  • Balance testing – Static and dynamic stability measures

  • Gait analysis – How you walk and identify fall risk patterns

  • Strength screening – Lower body power and stabilizer strength

  • Sensory integration – Vision, vestibular, and proprioceptive contributions

  • Environmental assessment – Discussion of home safety and risk factors

  • Medical history – Medications, conditions, or past falls

  • Functional testing – Getting up from chairs, stairs, reaching, turning

  • Fall risk scoring – Quantifying your current risk level

Your Personalized Plan: We'll identify your specific risk factors and create a targeted program to address them.

Your Balance Sessions (30 minutes)

What happens during each session:

Warm-Up & Assessment (5 min) 

Quick check-in and movement prep

​Balance Training (15-20 min)

Progressive exercises targeting your specific needs:

Postural Control 

  • Static balance on varied surfaces

  • Weight shifting and stability limits

  • Single-leg standing progressions

Dynamic Balance

  • Walking with head turns and obstacles

  • Multidirectional stepping patterns

  • Gait speed and stride training

Strength Training

  • Lower body power (sit-to-stand, step-ups, lunges)

  • Ankle and hip stabilizer strengthening

  • Core stability and trunk control

Sensory Integration

  • Eyes-closed balance challenges

  • Dual-task training (balance while doing cognitive tasks)

  • Vestibular exercises if appropriate

Functional Training

  • Real-world scenarios (curbs, uneven ground, stairs)

  • Sport-specific balance (golf swing stability, tennis footwork)

4-Session Package (120 minutes): $180 (Save 10%)
8-Session Package (240 minutes): $255 (Save 15%)
Monthly Membership (4 sessions): $175

Initial Assessment: $50 (credited toward first package)
